Nutella Chocolate Cake


100g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
250g butter, roughly chopped
1/4 cup Nutella
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup almond milk - or regular milk
3 eggs



Preheat your oven to 350°F and butter and flour a 9.5 inches cake pan. 
Add the chocolate, butter, nutella, cocoa powder and vanilla to a medium sauce pan and gently heat over a low to medium heat until everything is melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine plain flour, baking powder and sugar and whisk to combine. Add the milk to your dry ingredients and mix to combine, before gently adding the melted chocolate mixture, mix until combined and smooth. Scrap down the sides of the mixing bowl before adding one egg at a time and continue to mix until everything is combined. Pour into your prepared cake pan and bake for around 40min or until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10-20 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before icing.


Nutella Buttercream

1/2 cup nutella
120g butter, room temperature
1/4 cup icing sugar
2 teaspoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Using a electric mixer, wisk the nutella, butter, icing sugar, milk and vanilla in a mixing bowl until combined and smooth. Once your cake has cooled, place it atop a cake stand or plate before generously spreading your nutella buttercream on top of your cake.
